Lieutenant Hans Fett, U.S. Navy (Retired)
Lieutenant Hans Fett, began his naval career in the reserve component at the age of seventeen. Upon graduation, he married his high school sweetheart and went on active duty, both on the same day. Starting as a seaman recruit, he rose completely through the enlisted ranks attaining the grade of master chief petty officer and earned two degrees and a commission as an ensign.
The author’s service took him to more than thirty countries worldwide and earned him numerous personal, U.S., and foreign decorations, as well as unit, campaign, and other awards. Among his sea tours were service aboard three aircraft carriers, which included deploying to Vietnam in a helicopter combat search and rescue squadron, and participating in the initial phase of the War Against Terror during the Iran Hostage Crisis. Lieutenant Fett’s military career culminated in his selection to the Blue Angels where he retired after 23 years active service. After retirement, the author worked more than eleven years in the civilian sector, until a service-related injury led him to his current avocation of amateur military historian and author.
